This brachiopod was fossilised in haematite, hence the hard shiny black appearance. We have backed it with 18 carat gold (I think it could be worn this way around as an alternative) and surrounded it with diamonds. It is housed in a 19th century cutlery handle, held in a stand, so that it becomes a small sculpture.
