These remind me of ancient Persian helmets. 24 carat gold is too soft to use on its own but here it is fused to fine silver, hence the colour. We used 9 carat gold for the ear hooks because it’s slightly red colour looks better than the yellow of 18 carat gold. The antique pearls are quite hard to find and the holes are very, very small – these are sewn in with 18 carat white gold laser wire.
