Santa Lucia was a third century martyr; she is known as the patron saint of eyes. The shells are found throughout the Mediterranean, but this particular one comes from a beach near her home in Syracuse. We have surrounded it with two rows of very sparkly dark grey diamond beads – Lucia has its roots in luce, meaning light, and this pendant sparkles with it.
