Bacchus carried a Thyrsus, a giant fennel stalk topped with a pine cone, to symbolise prosperity, fertility and hedonism. Here the pinecone is formed from 18 carat gold ‘curls’ and it sits on top of a Roman pin which has been lengthened with a silver stalk, the two wrapped together with 18 carat gold wire.
